Giving Back

Their is nothing more satisfying for me than to be able to give back to the game I love and to help young athletes who aspire to be great. My coach once said their are 3 ways to say "thank you": say it, write it, or LIVE IT. I am saying thank you to those who helped me through my basketball journey by trying to help others fulfill the dream that I once had. The instructors at Nelson Basketball Academy desire to help you improve as an athlete, and when you work hard and improve their is no greater satisfaction for us.

The 3 Head Instructors, Craig, Kyle, and Dave Nelson won back to back North Dakota State Class B titles in 2002 and 2003 at May-Port CG HS in Mayville, ND. Both of the 2003 Mr. Basketball candidates, Craig and Kyle, went on to play NCAA Division II collegiate basketball. Craig recently finished his playing career at Northern State University under Don Meyer. Kyle recently finished his career at Moorhead State University. Dave recently retired from coaching after 27 years, and over 400 victories. Since taking the over at May-Port CG in 1999, Dave led 4 teams to the state tournament in 9 years.
